| Bio: |  Marriage IS love. I am addressing the colorbar 'fad' that has spawned from the original "Marriage is Love" colorbar, being that I have come across many variations which have decidely nothing to do with the initial cause, least of all acknowledgement or respect for it. While I am well aware that there are many people within the LBGT community who see the new irrelevant incarnations of the "Marriage is Love" bar as harmless and humorous, it is difficult for me to justify posting them at all with the knowledge that not everyone, upon seeing them, will be reminded of the primary meaning simply by virtue of the suggestive color schema (when the graphics depicted no longer have anything to do with that meaning). In short, as a temporary and admittedly moderate ethical solution to the (well-founded) controversey at hand, I submit that no one making or posting these little trinkets should be doing so unless they're (a)well aware of the importance behind their source; (b)displaying the initial graphic by itself somewhere to support the cause; and (c)understand and believe in it to the point that, ideally, they are willing to have a graphic such as the one posted above prominently displayed preferably in their user info. I know that I am not the authority on the matter, but that it's my responsibility to lay out my personal manifesto so that my stance is not misunderstood. And so people feel guilty about being stupid assholes. If you're not interested in putting the banner I have up there in your info, then you don't truly support the incredibly important ideology behind the matter and, really, you shouldn't have colorbars anywhere. They weren't meant to be cute; they were meant as a vehicle, however small, to spread a revolutionary vibe through the medium of this particular internet community where, vis-a-vis the butterfly effect ever fanned by the fantastic capabilities of the web, our country can get closer to true egalitarianism that much quicker. | |||||
